CEO & Co-Founder
From a young age Alex discovered his passion for computers, growing even stronger over the years. As a teenager he spent countless hours per day developing computer games and more or less meaningful applications. Later on he met Daniel and Tobias at his former employer’s. They got Tobias to come along for the ride and the three of them were an unbeatable team. Shortly afterwards, the idea of Preisjäger was born, laying the cornerstone for Webgears GmbH.
Although he will continuously value Daniel’s and Tobias’ input (his former CEO-Partners), today Alexander holds the position of chief executive officer alone. He will always remain a passionate developer, not differentiating between his or others’ ideas. Always refining and perfecting them.
Advisor & Co-Founder
While other children were playing Anno 1602 on their PCs, Daniel was already building his first website, offering downloads of great wallpapers and homework. Daniel quickly became the best-kept secret at school and his classmates are still grateful to him to this day that they didn’t have to sit at home for hours doing their homework.
Having put his heart into Webgears for nearly a decade, former CEO Daniel, will always stay close by to see further developments of the company. In his new function as Advisor Daniel provides support to his colleagues. SEO (search engine optimization) is one of his great passions. We are happy that he shares his knowledge with the rest of the team.
Advisor & Co-Founder
Even from an early age Tobias dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur one day and developed intellectually promising business ideas. The more creative and unusual the ideas were, the better. Along with Alex and Daniel, Tobias developed the idea for Webgears GmbH, laying the foundation for an internationally successful company.
As a former CEO, Tobias’ heart will always beat for Webgears GmbH. He remains part of the team and provides support to his colleagues in his new function as Advisor - sharing his knowledge and expertise. Tobias is passionate about innovation, new trends and business models – both online and offline. His family is a haven, where he can relax and recharge his batteries.

QUALITY MANAGER MARKETING
Harmony-loving Google Whisperer It was “time for a change,” when Sabine and her husband decided to come to Vorarlberg from the German city of Cologne last year. “We wanted to give the infamous country life a try for ourselves,” says the Quality Manager Marketing at Webgears – that the 30-year-old was somewhat familiar with her new environment definitely helped. “We have good friends in Lindau and had already visited the region a few times,” she explains. Even though the independent, foreign-language cinema scene left much to be desired in Vorarlberg, living close to the lake and mountains quickly grew on Sabine and her husband. Not surprisingly, the “after-work jump” into sparkling Lake Constance is one of their favourite summer pastimes. “It’s like you are on vacation every single day,” she enthuses.
Of little goths and Google At the tender age of 13, Sabine, who loved wearing dark clothes at the time, was hard to get away from her computer (unfortunately, we cannot publish her former website here). Together with the early interest in marketing, her later focus on online marketing was merely a logical consequence. For just under a year, the thoroughbred Internet aficionado has been responsible for everything to do with SEO at Webgears or, as she explains it, “everything that has to do with Google.” Although it sounds trite: “No two days are the same here,” she stresses. Her main tasks include the systematic monitoring of the Google algorithm and the performance of different couponing portals. Sabine also takes on the content marketing organization, agency communication and project responsibility in the preparation of new markets. Exciting tasks – primarily because she can thereby bring about something new every day. “It is extremely easy for us to work well. Using powerful arguments, almost anything is possible at Webgears – that simplifies my work enormously and also makes it very versatile,” says Sabine, who has previously gained valuable experience at other start-ups and agencies.
With calm and reason While Sabine regularly tests her stand-up comedy qualities with her colleagues more or less successfully, the “harmony in the office” gets her excited every day. “When I moved from Cologne to Hörbranz, I was afraid to find myself in a stressful environment once again, which I was used to at my former agency,” she recalls. A suspicion, which proved to be false on her first day at Webgears. “This seemingly typical Voralbergian calm and working at eye level creates a wonderful atmosphere, which you just want to be a part of,” she says.
Swapping the Pacific Ocean for Lake Constance It was the desire for a great education, which brought Felipe to Vorarlberg from Ecuador in 2005. Thanks to his studies at the Fachhochschule Vorarlberg, Felipe was able to outright make his dream come true. Back to South America? Far from it when you ask the 30-year-old. This is especially so since he has found a new home in Vorarlberg and a challenging job and new friends at Webgears. “The team spirit is just great,” Felipe raves about his professional home. Trading the Pacific Ocean for Lake Constance has not been that big of a deal to Felipe. “Either of them are great for swimming,” he laughs – and leaves no doubt about his future in Austria.
About the daily challenges As one of the first PHP developers at Webgears, Felipe has been able to experience the aspiring corporate development of the recent years up close and personal – and has certainly been able to do his part thanks to his expertise. “I was there when we advanced from Germany to other markets and completely adapted our system and our way of working. This was an extremely exciting process,” he recalls. As the competent programmer that is responsible for development, Felipe is tasked with the continuous improvement of portals, system updates or bug fixes. What he likes about his work? “The daily challenge of implementing and trying out new ideas – eventually, our different platforms just become my babies,” he explains. It’s no surprise that Felipe had bookmarked gutscheinsammler.de in his browser before he even began his career at Webgears.
Learning and benefitting from each other What’s at the top of Felipe’s priority ranking in his daily work? The interactions with his colleagues. “We are in constant contact, discussing new developments and learning new perspectives from each other,” explains Felipe. With the boys and girls in Berlin via Skype and via informal, direct conversations in Götzis. Each and every team member offers a very special expertise, from which the whole team can benefit. “It is remarkable what new approaches I have already encountered while browsing the code written by my colleagues”, the South American states excitedly. And in order to make sure that the matrix feeling does not take the upper hand: The programmers finally get to a change to meet each other and chat face-to-face at the annual Christmas party in Berlin.
HEAD OF PORTAL MANAGEMENT
Sports-Crazy Coupon Hunter Dan, who grew up near Springfield, Massachusetts, home of the Basketball Hall of Fame, should have become an athlete. And indeed, this American is certainly crazy for sports. From baseball and basketball to American Football, Dan is an ardent supporter of all the professional teams in Boston and likes to play sports himself – he loves football above all. It is no wonder that he moved to Europe as part of his degree while studying at Northeastern University. Dan studied International Business with minors in German and Marketing and fell in love with Germany during a study-abroad semester in Reutlingen. Afterwards, he was able to combine his interest in marketing and his enthusiasm for sports during an internship at the global adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach.
In Love With Berlin Eventually it became clear: after his graduation, he would return to Germany. More specifically, to Berlin: “Berlin is an awesome city, with plenty of diversity, an endless offering of things to do and lively start-up scene,” he says. And because he can indulge in his passions here: “I’m a big fan of brunches, going out with friends and crawling the city in search of discovering something new. There is no better place for that than Berlin.” In 2014, Dan joined Webgears as one of the first employees in the Berlin office of the company. He is now responsible for overseeing all of the company’s global portals (US, CA, UK, IN, AU, ES, IT, ES, NL, FR). “Every day, we work hard to dig up every possible source of new deal and coupon content for our users, so that they can save while shopping online,” he says.
Daily Journeys of Discovery This is not the only challenge Dan currently faces: “Every market, in which we are active, has its own unique aspects. Getting to know them, especially new markets like Spain, India and Australia, is one of the things I most look forward to when I get into the office in the morning,” he says. “What I like most about my work at Webgears is that everything we do has a direct impact on our daily business and the overall user experience of everyone visiting our sites,” Dan continues. “As a team, we are responsible for continuously improving our offering of top coupons and deals day-by-day.” Dan is particularly enthusiastic about the work atmosphere at Webgears: “Finding and diving into new challenges is really easy to do. It is unique in that there are frequent possibilities to further develop, use and improve my existing skillset, as well as have an active influence on how we work and develop as a company.”
KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER
The Fitness-Loving Irishman A proud Irishman, who has found his greatest joy in Berlin – this is how one might describe James. Born and raised in Dublin, he worked in marketing for the Irish “Yellow Pages” after getting his degree in marketing – and he was very successful at that! He was named “Sales Rep of the Year” twice. In 2009, he left Ireland in light of the recession. After a stopover in Canada, he moved to Berlin, his wife’s hometown, and joined Webgears in 2015. But even though he now lives and works on the European mainland, James has never lost contact with the British Isles. As a key account manager, he is in daily contact with various e-commerce vendors from the UK and regularly travels to London for meetings. He would like to be there more often, but this will be a bit more complicated in the future: He and his wife are brand new parents of twins!
Always on the move! Getting up early with two babies at home is no problem at all: James is a real morning person. While others are still in bed sleeping, he is out and about already. Shortly after six in the morning is when his day starts. A glass of lemon water when getting up, followed by 10 minutes of meditation, and then: working out! James takes between 20 minutes and an hour every morning to get a sweat going. In general, he loves to be active. He uses his lunch break for a short workout at the gym at least three times a week. In addition, he participated in five long-distance races last year alone, including two half-marathons. He has his eye on the full course as a goal for 2017 and has already registered for two marathon races. He records his journey in his fitness blog, where he also provides tips on healthy diets and the best sports venues in Berlin.
Happiness at Work With Free Snacks and Great Colleagues Sport is the ideal counterpart to everyday office work for James, even though he loves his job as a key account manager above all else. “What’s there not to like about working at Webgears? I work in a really cool office in the centre of the best city in the world. I am in contact with a wide and varied range of companies on a daily basis – from tour operators and supermarket chains to mobile phone operators. In the office, there are free snacks and drinks, a break room with a foosball table, and our work equipment is always up to date. But most of all, I like our team. We are a team of young, ambitious, and smart colleagues from different countries, with whom I also like to spend my time outside of work. I am all around happy and know how lucky I am to be in this position.”
